JOHANSON & YAU AWARDED BEST ACCOUNTING FIRMS TO WORK FOR BY ACCOUNTING TODAY
September 2011 | For the third year in a row, Johanson & Yau was recently named as one of the 2011 Best Accounting Firms to Work for. The annual list of “Best Accounting Firms” was created by Accounting Today and Best Companies Group.
This survey and award program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in the accounting industry, benefiting the nation's economy, its workforce and businesses. The Best Accounting Firms to Work for list is made up of a total of 100 companies, split by small, medium and large-sized companies. Johanson & Yau has been named one of the Best Accounting Firms to Work for in the medium category (25-249 employees).
Companies from across the country entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Accounting Firms to Work for. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration, survey and analysis process and determined the final rankings. CAROLYNE FALLOWS JOINS JOHANSON & YAU
September 2011 | Carolyne Fallows has joined Johanson & Yau as a Bookkeeper.
Carolyne Fallows is a graduate of Douglas College (New Westminster, BC) and British Columbia Institute of Technology School of Business (Vancouver, BC).
Most recently, Carolyne was employed as an Account Executive by DDB Worldwide Communications, a large ad agency in San Francisco. She has prior experience as a Finance Administrator and Administrative/Documentation Coordinator. Carolyne also has experience teaching English in China and as a contributing editor of an English language magazine in Japan.

MICHAEL NGUYEN PASSES CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT (CPA) EXAMINATION
August 2011 | Michael Nguyen passed the CPA exam in late 2010 and recently completed the required number of hours of accounting experience to become licensed by the California Board of Accountancy.
A 2006 graduate of San Jose State University, (BS Business Administration: Concentration in Accounting), Michael is a Staff Accountant with responsibility for accounting/auditing and tax client engagements.

GINA PACHE COMPLETES QUICKBOOKS PROADVISOR CERTIFICATION
August 2011 | Gina Pache recently completed the QuickBooks ProAdvisor Certification. The intermediate-level certification course is designed for accounting professionals who have a solid understanding of accounting and a fundamental knowledge of QuickBooks software.
A 1993 graduate of San Jose State University, (BS Business Administration: Concentration in Management), Gina is a Small Business Services Accountant with responsibility for client bookkeeping, payroll and tax return preparation engagements.

JOHANSON & YAU STAFF ENJOYS SUMMER OUTING AT SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS GAME
August 2011 | Johanson & Yau held its annual summer outing at AT&T Park on the beautiful San Francisco Bay. Staff, families and friends met for drinks and a pre-game meal at the Club Level Mural Room before watching the San Francisco Giants beat the Houston Astros.
We had a great time – and here’s to a more successful season next year!

July 2011 | Bud Sanders has joined JY WealthCare / Johanson & Yau as a Financial Advisor.
A graduate of Ohio State University, Bud started his accounting career with Haskins & Sells in San Francisco. He earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license and opened a solo accounting and tax practice here in San Jose in 1973.
Bud eventually sold his practice and has worked as a Financial Advisor with 1st Global, since 2000.
Bud brings valuable experience and knowledge, which will benefit our accounting, tax and financial services. He will continue to advise clients on investments, financial planning and retirement planning issues.
