David R. Davis, CPA Attends BKR International Annual Worldwide Meeting in Rome, Italy
David R. Davis, CPA recently attended the BKR International Annual Worldwide Meeting in Rome along with more than 140 representatives from BKR member firms from 44 countries to learn about the current global economy, share ideas and strategies, and brainstorm ways in which to better work together to ensure our continued success in this difficult economic climate.
The program proved to be the perfect combination of business and pleasure. Participants learned ways to navigate the global financial crisis and how the systematic use of emerging technologies will help to streamline office processes. Breakout sessions covered all of the “hot topics” of the day, and included both technical and management lectures and workshops.
During the conference, David Barzilay was introduced as BKR’s public relations consultant. The world board looks forward to raising the profile of not only BKR, but its members as well. The first significant initiative will be for the Financial Times to publish the BKR tax index on a quarterly basis.

Johanson & Yau Awarded Best Accounting Firms to Work For by Accounting Today
Johanson & Yau was recently named as one of the 2010 Best Accounting Firms to Work for. The annual list of “Best Accounting Firms” was created by Accounting Today and Best Companies Group.
This survey and award program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in the accounting industry, benefiting the nation's economy, its workforce and businesses. The Best Accounting Firms to Work for list is made up of a total of 100 companies, split by small, medium and large-sized companies. Johanson & Yau has been named one of the Best Accounting Firms to Work for in the medium category (25-249 employees).
Companies from across the country entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Accounting Firms to Work for. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration, survey and analysis process and determined the final rankings. Johanson & Yau Announces New Hire and Employee Anniversaries
Johanson & Yau recently welcomed Michael Lin, who joined the firm as a Staff Accountant. A San Jose, California native, Michael is a graduate of the University of Southern California with a BS in Accounting. He has passed the CPA exam and is currently enrolled in the MST program at San Jose State University.
Michael began his career with Grant Thornton in San Jose as a Tax Associate and later at Sun Perfect Solar. He also completed internships with Deloitte, the Los Angeles Urban Project and most recently at Oracle.
